Induce Workshops
From the Induce writers' workshop in Cairns, reviews of visual arts exhibitions in April and performances in the On Edge festival in July.
In April, RealTime editor Keith Gallasch worked with Kate Cooper, Victoria Carless and Rebecca Youdell on writing about exhibitions at the Cairns Regional Gallery by photographer Ricky Maynard (the MCA touring retrospective), local artist Beth Shorter (focusing on light in the north) and a group of locals responding to the fate of the cassowary in Northern Queensland.
In July, Keith, with co-editor Virginia Baxter, worked with Kate and Victoria on writing about works in the On Edge contemporary media and performance festival, including Zane Saunders' Blueprint, Bonemap's Whispering Limbs and Jemima Wyman's video works at KickArts.
The Australia Council funded Induce workshop program was produced by local artist Nicholas Mills and included media artist Jenny Fraser mentoring local Indigenous artists and a public forum on hybrid practices.
